RON at a glance

  • What you need: Valid ID, good internet, camera/mic, a quiet room, and your unsigned PDF.
  • Result: A notarized PDF delivered to your inbox.

What is Remote Online Notarization?

Remote Online Notarization (RON) lets you meet a commissioned notary over secure video instead of in person. Your ID is verified, the session is recorded, and the notary applies an electronic seal and signature to your document.

How your appointment works

  1. Upload your document (PDF preferred).
  2. Verify identity (government ID; you may answer quick KBA questions).
  3. Join the video session at your appointment time.
  4. Sign electronically while I witness.
  5. I apply my e-seal & e-signature.
  6. You receive the notarized PDF right after the session.

What to have ready

  • Current government ID (name matches the document).
  • Stable internet + camera + mic.
  • Quiet, well-lit room; you alone on camera.
  • Unsigned document (PDF).
  • Any witnesses your document/state requires.
  • Payment method (if applicable).

For more tips on getting ready, read the RON Prep Checklist.

Common use cases

  • Real estate docs (some transactions require specific handling)
  • Power of attorney forms
  • Affidavits and sworn statements
  • Business/financial agreements
  • Some wills/trusts (check with the receiving party)

Heads up: Acceptance is ultimately up to the recipient/recording office. If in doubt, ask them whether online notarization is acceptable before booking.
